Intensity
beats volulme
It’s tempting to think that if some strength training is good, more is better. This is false, however. Various studies have looked at whether strength training volume OR intensity contributes more to strength improvements.
Evermore people start to understand the importance of keeping their muscles strong as they age.
The results are the same every time, intensity is far more important than volume. This is great news if you’re not a fan of spending hours in the gym every week. It means that as long as you’re willing to ‘invest’ maximum intensity during your training, the amount of time you need to train (volume) is very low.
At fit20 we have proven we can get people to their optimal strength with just one 20-minute session per week. This is quite surprising to people who have not experienced fit20 themselves. The power of high-intensity training is hard to overestimate, but it is tremendously underestimated by most people.
Evermore people are starting to understand the importance of keeping their muscles strong as they age. Strength training is now seen as a preventative practice for healthy living. It is no longer about six-packs but rather the health-sustaining benefits of being and staying strong.
For people over 40 who are not naturally drawn to strength training, it is great to know they can get tremendous health and fitness benefits in just 20 minutes per week. At fit20 you spent that time with your own personal trainer in a small private studio doing our highly effective training program.
