It's back to the gym for Chloë McPolin, but this time with a personal trainer and a twist - namely a once-a-week, 20 minute workout that gets results...

But the most puzzling part is I only have to do this movement 10 times, with a hold at the end, before the exercise is done

Hobby comrades, with 2026 well and truly upon us – and the classic ‘new year, new me’ mantra being thrown around – I decided there was nothing more fitting than a return to the gym... but this time with a personal trainer. 


As always, there is a twist. I’d heard talk of a new, minimal-activity, no-sweat fitness regimen that supposedly delivers a full workout in just 20 minutes, once a week. I was mildly sceptical but, as always, curious – so I decided to give it a whirl. 


My gym escapades have been going surprisingly well throughout this journey – but I really love cutting corners. Who wouldn’t want to get those happy endorphins and physical benefits (namely a six-pack) without endless, arduous gym sessions? I would nearly go to Turkey and pay for a six-pack if it didn’t come with such a hefty price tag. But fit20 seems to be the cheaper option so I get in touch with their people to ask if I can try a personal training session and see if I resemble Shakira afterwards – a tall order indeed ...
