How can
1x per week be enough?
Is doing fit20 1x per week really enough? Actually, it is optimal! The fit20 training is a trigger for change. Positive health change. If improved health and fitness are what you want, then you need to allow your body the time to make these improvements happen.
You are better able to stick to a program that is only 1x week and scheduled in your calendar.
From research, we know that doing fit20 just once per week is ideal for getting the best results.
The more intense your training is, the longer the time (relative rest) between sessions needs to be to get optimal results without the risk of overtraining. It is the time your body needs to use the improvement trigger (your training session) to make positive health and fitness changes (the results you want).
Thankfully, the 1x week cadence also helps with your consistency. Consistency trumps all other exercise variables. You are better able to stick to a program that is only 1x week and scheduled in your calendar. Your trainer is waiting for you and ready to help you achieve your fitness goals.
People are always surprised to learn that studies that actually look into what frequency of resistance training is best, find no difference between groups that train 1x, 2x, or 3x a week. While we probably don’t know all the reasons why this is so, we do know that intensity of effort is a potent contributor to training results and that high-intensity training is a highly effective driver of results when done in just 1x per week.
